Weekend Haul- Pic heavy!

Sorry for my lack of updating, guys. I've been busy with school and exams :[

But anyway, I went home this weekend and fell victim to Ulta, which I don't have where I go to school. Yet.

First up is Studio M's Covered in Diamonds.
I realized that, while I have a gazillion and a half glitters, I don't have anything that resembles flakes.

Second is Borghese's Stellar Notte. Meijer had these 50% off, so I knew I had to pick the one up that I've been eyeing. That being said, this is my first Borghese.

Third is Essie's Aruba Blue.
Of course, I have a dupe of this, but I was also lacking at least 1 Essie in my collection (aside from their Matte-About-You)

Next is my first Ulta polish, For Bitten. I tried this on my finger and I really wish it was more duochrome than it is. But anyway, I do need a red...

Next is LA Splash's Aqua Fusion. I really needed a sky blue and I haven't tried LA Splash, so I thought this would be a good choice.

This is OPI's Austin-tatious Turquoise, and is also my first OPI polish (lots of firsts in this post!). It's incredibly sheer and needs several layers without a basecoat.

This is Ocean Breeze from Revlon. It's one of their newer scented polishes, and I personally think it smells like soap. It's a pretty color, though!

This one here is Sugar Plum by Revlon, and it's a gorgeous plum color.
On that note, I will have swatches from my nail wheel of these up soon!

These little bullets are powder eyeshadow from NYX. I felt like being creative and making my own nail polish. I see all of these gorgeous frakens over Blogger and I figured I'd give it a go.

This was my creation, using NYC's clear polish. The pigment and the glitter eventually settle, so it needs a good amount of shaking around to get everything even again. I tried it out, and it looks really neat!
I ended up ordering some mica pigments and supplies from TKB Trading. I'll definitely upload some photos of my future frankens!

That's all for now!

Bijou crystals

I've been so busy, I haven't been able to update my blog whatsoever.
I got a package of nail wheels that I'll post relatively soon. I'm going to try to get more organized and put everything into Excel and see what magic that brings me.
I have a wellness card with Rite Aid now, so we'll see what trouble that brings me in the near future.
But anywayyyy, here's a mani I did yesterday.

I have no idea where I picked this polish up several years ago, but pre-nail polish hoarder me made a good decision! This is a black glitter, which I layered over LA colors metal gray color.

Bizarre brands

So, I want to try some really out there brand. Not like, the kind I can go to Sally's or Ulta and pick up.
I'll come across some blogs where they name bizarre companies that I've never heard of before, like Catherine Arley and Nubar. Mind you, I have heard of those.
So, my fellow polish addicts, I'm looking for a list of some of your favorite brands. Anything. Even stuff that I'd have to order online and wait 2 weeks to ever see. It'd be awesome for everyone, in the end. You learn something new everyday, right?
Aaaaaand, go!

More Giveaways!

The Nail Experiment is giving away 12 awesome looking Ludurana polishes.

Holo giveaway!

Girly Addictions is giving away a gorgeous holo and a holo basecoat!

Dear blog, I'm sorry I've neglected you. I'll make our relationship work, I promise. Love, Mackenzie

I'm sorry everyone that I haven't updated in awhile, I've been busy with school and yadda yadda like that.
I got stressed to the point that I started nibbling at my nails, bleh. I have little nubs again :/ But, I'm working on making sure that doesn't happen again, I just have to file them down more haha.
But anyway, I stopped in at CVS for 100% acetone and they'll occasionally have some Sally Hansen polish for 75% off. I found two that I like and only paid .75 for them :]
So, here's Sally Hansen's X-Treme Wear #32 Pink Boa with a layer of Sinful's Pearl Harbor, several (3? 4?) layers of Sinful's Frenzy, THEN a layer of Sally's #40, Purple Pizzazz. I threw on a layer of SV, and viola!

I also had China Glaze's 2Nite on a few days ago. Which, is EASILY my favorite polish EVER.It's almost a shame to use it. It's like killing a unicorn... with, like, a bomb. (shameless Pineapple Express quote)

Mega Upload

I have sooooooo much to say that this'll probably be the longest post ever. But oh well.
First off, I FINALLYYYYYYYYYY got my Zoya's in the mail the other day. I ran/skipped down my dorm hallway to get my package.
And here they are! I ordered Richelle, Ivanka and Laney.

I'll upload some swatches later on.
Also, I ventured to Sally's in search of a yellow. I have a bright, blinding, highlighter yellow, but nothing else. So, I picked up Orly's Spark.

However, as I was pulling away from the plaza that Sally's is in, a banner in a shop down the plaza caught my eye. And it reads, no joke:
"Coming soon! ULTA BEAUTY"
No joke, this will become a dangerous plaza for me. Here's a horrible rendition of the proximity of these two stores. Sally's in circled in pink, Ulta in blue.

Especially because a bus goes from my dorm to this very plaza. Oh dear lord, I'm in trouble.
Finally, I did a quick and dirty Konad:

Tye Dye nails!

So, I saw this tutorial on how to do tye-dye nails (Click Here) and realized that I HAD to give it a try.
Here's my attempt. I think I need thicker nail polish, or maybe a colored undercoat, you can see my nails through the marks. Or just another attempt *shrugs*

I got a bunch of compliments on them at work today. :]

A few new polishes and swatches

I know I haven't updated in a couple of days, I've been busy. But anyway, I had my essie's matte about you and ChG 2nite come in the mail a few days ago. The ChG is almost too pretty to use!

Left to right: LA Colors Purple, Teal, Silver, Pink, Sally Hansen's In The Spotlight, China Glaze's 2Nite, Essie's Matte about You, and Sinful's What's Your Name.
I did this set up a couple of days ago, I just forgot to upload :[

This is just the LA Colors Pink. This was a combo pack, the four polishes were only $2.99!
Right now, I'm wearing this one:

This is Sinful's Black on Black with a coat of NYC's Starry Silver Glitter.
It looks really spacey!

We are Spartans!

So, a brief bit about me so this little piece of work makes sense. I'm currently a sophomore at Michigan State University studying Criminal Justice so I can eventually do something in the CSI field.
But anyway, we're Spartans and our colors are green and white. The common phrase among us is that we "bleed green".
So, here I am, bleeding green.
Bottom layer is ChG's White on White

Thennnn ChG's Holly Jolly for a green top coat and a bit of imagination with my nail brushes.

All moved in and a new swatch

I finally got fully unpacked and re-moved back into my dorm. I brought alllllll of my polishes with me, plus I'm within walking distance from a CVS, so that'll probably become a problem.
Anyway, I stopped in at Rite-Aid before I left home and picked up a couple polishes. They're called Chameleon by Scherer (which is close to one of my old professors names, haha). I wish I would've read about them earlier, because I read nothing good about them. Ah well.
This one is called Blue Frost. This was two layers of ChG's white and then 3 coats of Blue Frost. It's extremely sheer. From what I read, these chip within a day; however I haven't had a problem with this. I used SinFul's Black on Black for the tips and a coat of SV for the topcoat.

And then of course, I had to smudge at least ONE nail, or it just wouldn't be me.

Today's haul and my new toys

I got my 25-piece image plate set in the mail yesterday and I played around with it a bit. I also braved the snow that's hitting Michigan and got a purple and a black from Target.

NYC's Prince Street. This is about 2-3 coats

Sinful Colors' Black on Black pattern (which name is escaping me right now)
I want to go back to my dorm, I've got a Zoya package waiting for me there plus a catalog.

New purchase

I went into Walgreens and found this beautiful shade of blue by Wet'n'Wild called Blue Moon.
Of course, I go home and realize that I have the similar shade from Finger Paints. Bah humbug.
But nonetheless, I threw it on, plus a light konad, and tadaaa.
First is no flash, second with flash.

I also used the Zoya promo and bought a couple of polishes. I need to get back to my dorm room, I'll have presents when I get back.

Wet'N'Wild Blue Moon base coat with NYC's #241.

Glitter!!

WHOO GLITTER!!!!!!!!!!!
But not icky hangnails :[
Wet’n’Wild Kaleidoscope over China Glaze Black Diamond.

Konad!

I bought a konad set when I went to the mall today.
They were 40% off and the plates were buy 2 get 1 free, I really couldn't resist with that! I ordered something similar to the bundle monster from Amazon that I'm patiently waiting for.
This is my very first attempt at it.
China Glaze’s white on white, limbo bimbo, and up all night.

Barney

So, it's pretty obvious that I wasn't thinking straight when I did this. I immediately thought of Barney when I was done with this one, which means that it stayed on my nails for less than 24 hours.
China Glaze's Flying Dragon and In the Lime Light.

The beginning

So, I fell in love with nail polish after seeing sooooooooooo many images on imgfave and tumblr. So, my collection has grown rapidly, especially when I got some nail art brushes for Christmas.
This is what a bit of me playing around with them brought.
Don't judge me, I'm a newbie.
